Rauminstallation, in der die Zeit – eingefangen in der erstarrten Bewegung weißer Vorhänge – stillzustehen scheint. Welche Spuren hinterlassen einschneidende Lebensereignisse in uns? Zusammen mit der Klangkünstlerin Echo Ho entwickelt die Choreografin Yoshie Shibahara eine Performancemaschine, die die Grenzen einer scheinbar bewegungslosen Erstarrung und die darin verborgenen, zunächst unsichtbaren Raum- und Zeitphänomene erkundet.
Die Inszenierung nutzt das Raum- und Gebäudekonzept des Aufführungsortes als integralen Bestandteil der Performance und eröffnet dem Publikum eine immersive ästhetische Erfahrung.
Die Inspiration für das Projekt stammt aus dem japanischen Konzept Ōmagatoki, das die Erfahrung auflösender Grenzen in der Übergangszeit zwischen Tag und Nacht sowie bei Lebensumbrüchen beschreibt. Shintoistische Konzepte aufgreifend, nähern sich Shibahara und Ho lebendigen Raum-Zeit-Grenzverschiebungen.
»Die futuristische Erscheinung macht die Umgebung zu einer hyperrealistischen Simulation, in der die Performerin wie ein Hologramm existiert. Es wirkt, als ob sie nicht wirklich anwesend wäre, sondern nur ihre Silhouette.
Es ist, als würden die Zuschauer*innen in eine ferne Zukunft versetzt, um von dort auf diesen Ort und die Menschen im Jahr 2024 zurückzublicken und zu versuchen, deren Gefühle zu erinnern.«

In Zeitgrenzraummaschine, the audience moves through a performative spatial installation where time—captured in the frozen movement of white curtains—seems to stand still. What traces do life-changing events leave within us? Together with sound artist Echo Ho, choreographer Yoshie Shibahara develops a performance machine that explores the boundaries of an apparently motionless stasis and the hidden, initially invisible spatial and temporal phenomena within it.
The production integrates the spatial and architectural concept of the performance venue as an essential part of the piece, offering the audience an immersive aesthetic experience.
The inspiration for the project comes from the Japanese concept of Ōmagatoki, which describes the experience of dissolving boundaries during the transition between day and night, as well as in moments of life transformation. Drawing on Shinto concepts, Shibahara and Ho explore shifting boundaries of space and time.

The futuristic appearance transforms the surroundings into a hyperrealistic simulation, in which the performer exists like a hologram. It seems as if she is not truly present, but only her silhouette remains.
It is as if the audience is transported into a distant future, looking back from there onto this place and its people in 2024, trying to recall their emotions.«
